Guide to Law Journals
We’ve assembled a list of relevant legal journals, with a focus on the flagship publications of major law schools. This is not a comprehensive list, but it includes a great many of the principal legal journals in the United States and some overseas. We’ve made a point to cover a diverse set of practice areas, from intellectual property to maritime law, and should be a great starting point for any research in law or related fields.
- ABC Child Law Practice – ABC Child Law Practice is a publication of the ABA’s Center on Children and the Law
- Administrative Law Review – The Administrative Law Review is a quarterly publication of the Washington College of Law and the ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice.
- Aedon – Aedon is an Italian journal of arts law published three times annually in English and Italian.
- Akron Law Review – The Akron Law Review is a quarterly journal put out by the University of Akron School of Law.
- Alabama Law Review – The Alabama Law Review is published five times yearly by the University of Alabama Law School.
- Albany Law Review – The Albany Law Review is published by the University of Albany Law School.
- Alternative Law Journal – The Alternative Law Journal is an Australian journal focused on social justice and the legal system.
- American Criminal Law Review – The ACLR is published quarterly by Georgetown University, and is the most-cited criminal law journal in the United States.
- American Indian Law Review – The American Indian Law Review is the premier American legal journal dealing with indigenous issues.
- American Journal of Criminal Law – The American Journal of Criminal Law is published by the University of Texas Law School and deals with a wide range of criminal issues.
- American Journal of Law & Medicine – The American Journal of Law & Medicine is America’s premier health law publication and is published by the American Society of Law, Medicine, & Ethics.
- American Law & Economics Review – The American Law & Economics Review is published by the American Law and Economics Association and covers the intersections of legal and economic studies.
- American Review of International Arbitration – The American Review of International Arbitration is published within the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law at Columbia University.
- American University Law Review – The American University Law Review is the flagship publication of the American University Washington College of Law.
- Animal Law Review – The Animal Law Review is published at the Lewis & Clark Law School and is the oldest and primary journal in the field.
- Annual Survey of American Law – The Annual Survey of American Law is a practice-oriented journal published by the New York University School of Law.
- Arizona State Law Journal – The Arizona State Law Journal is published under the auspices of the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
- Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal – The Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal is the primary American legal journal dealing with Asian and Trans-Pacific issues.
- Baylor Law Review – The Baylor Law Review is the flagship publication of the Baylor Law School.
- Berkeley Journal of Employment & Labor Law – The Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law is one of America’s premier publications dealing with employment and labor law.
- Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review – The Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review is one of the nation’s two oldest environmental law journals and covers broad, interdisciplinary topics in environment and law.
- Boston University International Law Journal – The BUILJ is published biannually and is one of the nation’s premier international law journals.
- Brooklyn Law Review – The Brooklyn Law Review is the major journal of the Brooklyn Law School.
- Buffalo Law Review – The Buffalo Law Review is the flagship publication of the University at Buffalo Law School.
- Canada-United States Law Journal – The Canada-United States Law Journal is the only law journal covering the relationship between the two titular nations.
- Cardozo Law Review – The Cardozo Law Review is the primary organ of the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.
- Chapman Law Review – The Chapman Law Review is the official law review of the Chapman University School of Law.
- Chicago Journal of International Law – The Chicago Journal of International Law is published twice a year at the University of Chicago School of Law.

- Columbia Journal of Environmental Law – The Columbia Journal of Environmental Law is one of the nation’s preeminent environmental journals.
- Columbia Journal of Gender and Law – The Columbia Journal of Gender and Law examines the law through a feminist lens and examines the interaction between gender and law.
- Columbia Law Review – The Columbia Law Review is the flagship publication of the Columbia Law School and one of America’s premier legal journals.
- CommLaw Conspectus – CommLawConspectus is a journal of communications law based at the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law.
- Construction Law Review – The Construction Law Review is an update on current topics in construction law.
- Cornell Law Review – The Cornell Law Review is published every other month at the Cornell University Law School.
- Denver Journal of International Law and Policy – The DJILP is published at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
- Drake Law Review – The Drake Law Review is a quarterly publication of the Drake University Law School.
- Duke Law Journal – The Duke Law Journal is the major publication of the Duke University Law School.
- East European Constitutional Review – The EECR is a publication of the NYU School of Law dealing with legal issues in Eastern Europe in the post-Soviet era.
- Emory Law Journal – The Emory Law Journal is the primary legal publication at the Emory University School of Law.
- Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal – The EREPJ is a multidisciplinary journal published at the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law dealing with the relationship between law, economics, labor relations, and sociology in the workplace.
- Entertainment and Sports Lawyer – Entertainment and Sports Lawyer is the official journal of the ABA Forum Committee on Entertainment and Sports Industries.
- Family Court Review – The Family Court Review is published in conjunction with the Center for Children, Families, and the Law at the Hofstra University School of Law.
- Federal Communications Law Journal – The FCLJ is sponsored by the Federal Communications Bar Association and the Indiana University School of Law.
- Federal Courts Law Review – The Federal Courts Law Review is published under the auspices of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association.
- The First Amendment Law Review – The First Amendment Law Review deals with all First Amendment issues and is published by the University of North Carolina School of Law.
- Florida State University Law Review – The FSULR is the main student-run publication of the Florida State University School of Law.
- Fordham Urban Law Journal – The Fordham Urban Law Journal is published by Fordham University and deals with legal and policy issues surrounding urban America.
- Gaming Law Review and Economics – GLRE is the country’s most authoritative journal dealing with both casino and internet gaming law.
- George Washington Law Review – The George Washington Law Review is the primary publication of the George Washington University School of Law.
- Georgia Law Review – The Georgia Law Review is the flagship legal publication of the University of Georgia.
- Gonzaga Law Review – The Gonzaga Law Review is the official publication of the Gonzaga University School of Law.
- Harvard Law Review – The Harvard Law Review is Harvard’s flagship legal publication and one of America’s most respected legal journals.

- Houston Business and Tax Law Journal – The Houston Business and Tax Law Journal is dedicated to all realms of business and tax law and is published by the University of Houston Law School.

- Indiana Law Journal – The Indiana Law Journal is the main publication of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington.

- William Mitchell Law Review – The William Mitchell Law Review is published by the William Mitchell College of Law and covers legal issues ranging from the regional to the international.
- Yale Human Rights & Development Journal – The YHDRLJ is an interdisciplinary legal journal examining the linkages and intersections of human rights, law, and development economics.
